Mapping Time!

In social studies this week students are continuing to learn more about a geographer’s favorite tool … maps! Students will be creating their own basic maps of places familiar to them and we will be learning about latitude and longitude. We will be learning how to use latitude and longitude to determine absolute location, and then we will be practicing our skills in a variety of ways including a latitude and longitude battleship game. Looking forward to a great week!

A great start!

7th and 8th grade social studies are off to a great start! I have enjoyed getting to know all my new students and am looking forward to a excellent year. Tomorrow we will be diving into our social studies content head first as we begin reviewing maps and mapping skills. Just a reminder students need to bring a notebook that can be used for daily writing assignments. See you tomorrow!

Welcome Back!

Back to school! I hope everyone had a wonderful summer vacation and is ready to get back to work at SMS. My name is Mr. Rappel and I will be teaching 7th and 8th grade Social Studies at Spooner Middle School this year. I am looking forward to an exciting, fun, and sucessful year in my classroom and can't wait to get started!
